Be taken back in time with Penny Dreadful to meet the Toshers who worked in the sewers of London. Come and visit Creekside Discovery Centre, see archived photos and maps of the area from Victorian times. Go on a low tide wade and find measure hidden in the Creek…
Immersive theatre performance.
Afterwards check out the Victorian photos, maps and memorabilia brought along by London Metropolitan Archives, and look at the display of amazing artefacts that have been pulled out of the Creek.
This performance event is part of the Totally Thames Festival

The Environment Agency is the lead authority in England for implementing the Water Framework Directive (WFD), a European directive which provides the main framework for water management in Europe. The European Water Framework Directive (WFD) came into force in December 2000 and became part of UK law in December 2003. It provides an opportunity to plan and deliver a better water environment, focusing on ecology.
It provides an opportunity to plan and deliver a better water environment through river basin management planning. It may seem like a complicated piece of European Legislation but in reality it is all about creating healthy rivers that people care about and are connected to for life and livelihoods.

We also have a number of river related volunteering opportunities. We are keen to get people involved in their local rivers and help us maintain them through bankside management and litter picks. We tend to work in 4 parks; Brookmill Park, Chinbrook Meadows, Cornmill Gardens and Ladywell Fields.
